Taiwan’s export orders surged 61.9% year-on-year to a record high of USD 97.9 billion in July 2026, up from a 59.4% increase in June, driven by robust global demand for AI-related and other technology products. Growth strengthened across most major product categories, led by information and communication products (89.5% vs. 81.9% in June), electrical machinery (16.7% vs. 14%), basic metals and related products (24.3% vs. 16.5%), machinery (31.3% vs. 17.6%), and mineral products (44.4% vs. 30.5%). By contrast, growth moderated for electronic products (71.7% vs. 79.9%) and transport equipment (6.4% vs. 12.3%), while orders for optical, photographic, and cinematographic equipment fell at a faster rate (-10.6% vs. -3.3%). All major export markets recorded strong gains, led by the United States, where orders jumped 88.9%, followed by Mainland China and Hong Kong (47.2%) and ASEAN economies (61.1%), highlighting the broad-based strength of external demand.
