Czech Republic Consumer Morale at 1-Year Low

Consumer confidence in the Czech Republic fell to 102.3 in August 2026 from 105.6 in July, reaching its lowest level since August 2025. The decline reflects a more pessimistic economic outlook, with expectations for the overall economic situation over the next 12 months worsening for the second consecutive month.

A slightly higher share of respondents now view their current financial situation as worse than a year ago, while expectations for an improvement in household finances over the coming 12 months remained unchanged. At the same time, the proportion of households not planning major purchases over the next year increased, and concerns about rising prices intensified. By contrast, worries about further increases in unemployment were broadly stable compared with July.

Despite the month-on-month decline, overall consumer confidence remained above its level of a year earlier.
