Taiwan Consumer Confidence Improves Slightly

Taiwan’s consumer confidence index edged up to 65.01 in August 2026 from 64.58 in July. The improvement was mainly supported by gains in four of the six core sub-indicators: labor market expectations rose to 73.32 from 72.19 in July; future price expectations increased to 36.57 from 35.82; views on household finances climbed to 78.12 from 77.42; and assessments of domestic economic conditions advanced to 81.20 from 80.53.

In contrast, sentiment toward stock investment weakened, with that sub-index slipping to 27.72 from 28.08, while the gauge for durable goods purchases eased to 93.14 from 93.43.

Two additional indicators also showed improvement: current health conditions rose to 86.94 from 86.70, and expectations for future health conditions increased to 82.36 from 81.77. Meanwhile, perceptions of the timing for real estate purchases deteriorated slightly, with that measure edging down to 90.03 from 90.13.
