Sensex Slips for Second Day

India’s BSE Sensex slipped about 0.1% to 77,387 on Thursday, extending the previous session’s decline as sustained selling pressure outweighed support from softer oil prices and strength in global technology shares.

Brent crude eased roughly 0.6% to $87.30 per barrel after Iran said it was working with Oman to finalize an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz, helping to temper fears of prolonged supply disruptions.

Domestic technology counters retreated even as Nvidia posted robust quarterly results, with the US chipmaker more than doubling its revenue and guiding third-quarter revenue above Wall Street forecasts.

Among the notable laggards were ICICI Bank (-4.1%), HDFC Bank (-0.9%), Hindustan Copper (-2.6%), Multi Commodity Exchange (-0.8%), and Steel Authority of India (-0.9%). In contrast, Adani Power (1.8%), Welspun Corp (4.0%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (2.3%) advanced on the day.
