France’s registered unemployment increased by 21,500 in July 2026, reaching 3,143 thousand, after a rise of 5,900 in June and marking the highest level since March 2025. The overall uptick was driven primarily by job seekers aged 25 to 49, whose number grew by 17,000 to 1,829 thousand, the highest figure since November 2021. Among those over 25, unemployment rose by 4,300 to 513.7 thousand, while for people aged over 50 it inched up by 200 to 800 thousand. By gender, unemployment rose for both women and men, by 10,300 and 11,200 respectively.
