Service sector confidence in the Eurozone rose to 5.8 in August 2026 from an upwardly revised 5.1 in July, marking a seven-month high and defying expectations of a decline to 4.9. The data signal a continued recovery in business conditions across the currency bloc, following the disruption caused by the outbreak of war in the Middle East, which halted energy supplies from the region and fueled inflationary pressures that prompted tighter monetary policy. Assessments of business activity over the past three months improved to 2.4 from 1.6 in July, while expectations for demand over the next three months also strengthened, rising to 10 from 9. At the same time, selling price expectations edged up to 14.1 from 13.7.
