Irish Retail Sales Growth Accelerates to 2.2% in July, Up from 0.9%

Ireland’s retail sector showed stronger momentum in July 2026, with year-over-year sales growth rising to 2.2%, up from 0.9% in June 2026.

The latest figures, updated on 28 August 2026, indicate that consumer spending picked up pace in July when compared with the same month a year earlier. In June, retail sales had grown 0.9% versus June of the previous year, but July’s reading shows that annual growth more than doubled, suggesting an improving backdrop for retailers.

Both the current and previous indicators are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s performance with the corresponding month a year earlier. The July acceleration may signal strengthening demand in the Irish economy and will be closely watched by analysts assessing the resilience of household spending in the second half of 2026.
