Macau’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 1.9% in July 2026, the same level as in June. The number of unemployed persons declined by about 400 from the previous month to 6,400, while total employment rose by 300 to 376,700. The labour force participation rate held steady at 66.8%, with the overall labour force edging up by 200 to 383,800. The general underemployment rate eased slightly to 1.7%, down 0.1 percentage point from June.
By industry, gaming continued to be the city’s largest employer, accounting for 62.6% of employed residents. Wholesale and retail trade followed at 36.1%, while real estate and business activities made up 24.7%. Accommodation and food services represented 19.5% of total employment, and transport and storage accounted for 16.4%.
