Chile’s copper production dropped 9.4% year-on-year to 403,424 metric tons in July 2026, reversing a 5.1% increase recorded in June. The decline was driven by adverse weather conditions in northern Chile that disrupted operations, along with scheduled maintenance at major mining sites. The sharp fall in output from Chile, the world’s largest copper producer, has heightened concerns about tightening global copper supplies.
