FX.co ★ Portugal Industrial Activity Declines for 3rd Month

Portugal’s industrial production fell by 1.4% year-on-year in July 2026, marking a third straight month of contraction, after a downwardly revised 1.1% decline in June. Energy output weakened further, shrinking 1.2% following a 1% drop in the previous month, while growth in the production of intermediate goods slowed to 0.5% from 1.6%. The overall decline in consumer goods output narrowed slightly (-2.5% vs -2.7%), but remained under pressure from a sharper fall in non-durable goods (-4.3% vs -2.9%). In contrast, production of durable goods rebounded strongly, rising 8.1% after a 1.3% decline. On a monthly basis, industrial production slipped 0.3%, a much smaller decrease than the downwardly revised 4.2% drop recorded in June.
