Pakistan Wholesale Inflation at 3-Month High

Pakistan’s wholesale price inflation accelerated to 11.82% year-on-year in August 2026, up from 9.43% in July, marking the fastest pace in three months. Prices rose more sharply in agriculture, forestry, and fishery (9.49% vs 7.61% in July); other transportable goods (26.80% vs 20.44%); and in the combined category of food, beverages, tobacco, textiles, and leather products (8.10% vs 7.40%). This uptick was largely driven by stronger inflation in food, beverages, and tobacco (10.51% vs 9.40%), while inflation for textiles and leather products held steady at a high 19.21%.

Additionally, prices for ores, minerals, electricity, gas, and water rebounded (1.87% vs -0.39% in July). In contrast, price growth for metal products, machinery, and equipment eased (5.16% vs 6.19%). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose 2.0% in August, after remaining unchanged in the previous month.
