Consumer prices in São Paulo were virtually flat month-on-month in August 2026, mirroring the stability seen in July. Housing costs declined 0.3%, reversing a 0.57% increase in the previous month, while food prices fell 0.18%, after a sharper 0.69% drop in July. Transportation costs decreased 0.43%, deepening from a 0.13% decline in July, and education prices were almost unchanged, edging down 0.06% after a 0.3% rise in the prior month. In contrast, personal expenses rebounded, climbing 1.34% following a 0.07% decrease in July. Health costs rose 0.24%, picking up from a 0.1% increase in the previous month, and clothing prices gained 0.32%, easing from a 0.58% rise in July.
