Brazil Industrial Production Returns to Growth

Brazil’s industrial production increased 0.2% month-over-month in July 2026, rebounding after two consecutive declines. Growth was recorded in three of the four major economic categories and in 13 of the 25 industrial sectors surveyed.

Among the major categories, output of durable consumer goods rose 3.2%, capital goods advanced 2.4%, and semi- and non-durable consumer goods increased 0.5%. Intermediate goods were the only segment to contract, slipping 0.2%.

At the industry level, the strongest positive contributions came from computers, electronic and optical products, which jumped 12.2%; food products, up 1.0%; and coke, refined petroleum products and biofuels, up 1.1%. Each of these sectors broke a sequence of two monthly declines.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial production fell 0.5% compared with July 2025, ending a four-month run of expansion. In the year to date, output is up 1.1%.
