Slovakia Retail Sales Edge Down in July

Retail sales in Slovakia slipped by 0.1% year-on-year in July 2026, after a 2% rise in June, marking the first decline in three months. Sales of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores also continued to fall (-1.6% vs -2.2%).

By contrast, turnover increased in several categories: computer and ICT equipment stores (8.1% vs 25.3%), specialized stores selling other household goods (3.3% vs 7.5%), specialized automotive fuel outlets (1.6% vs 0.3%), and stores selling goods for culture and recreation (0.3% vs 8.3%). Meanwhile, sales in stalls and markets dropped 16.9%, while other goods in specialized stores inched up 0.3%.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade rose 0.2% in July, following a 0.4% increase in June.
