Tanker traffic through the Persian Gulf will be closely watched following the outbreak of strikes between Iran and the US, extending the shock to energy supplies from the region. In the US, consumer and producer inflation data will be released—these are the last key readings before the Federal Reserve’s September policy decision. Additional US indicators due include the University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey and existing home sales.

Elsewhere in the Americas, both Canada and Brazil will publish their latest inflation figures. In Europe, the European Central Bank will announce its interest-rate decision, Germany will release industrial production data, and the UK will report monthly GDP.

In Asia, it will be a busy week: China is set to release trade data on goods flows following the US’s renewed tariffs, along with fresh CPI figures. Japan will publish its producer price index (PPI), current account balance, and wage statistics. Finally, trade data from Taiwan may provide further insight into demand for AI-related infrastructure.
