Czechia Construction Output Rises 1.8% in July

Construction output in the Czech Republic increased by 1.8% year-on-year in July 2026, picking up from a downwardly revised 0.5% rise in the previous month. Building construction output grew by 4.9% year-on-year, while civil engineering activity declined by 3.4%.

A total of 5,622 building permits were issued, an increase of 4.0% compared with a year earlier. However, the total floor area of newly permitted buildings fell by 16.9% year-on-year, largely reflecting a drop in non-residential projects after last year's approvals of extensive production and storage facilities.

In July, construction began on 2,935 dwellings, up 11.7% from a year earlier, while the number of completed dwellings surged 46.1% year-on-year to 3,328. Both indicators were supported primarily by activity in multi-dwelling buildings.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, overall construction output in July edged up by 0.4%, rebounding from a 0.3% decline in June.
