Denmark Current Account Surplus Hits Record High

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus widened to DKK 44.4 billion in July 2026, up from a downwardly revised DKK 29.0 billion in June. This was the largest monthly increase on record. The goods account surplus expanded to DKK 33.4 billion from DKK 22.0 billion, driven by a 4.5% rise in exports combined with a 6.9% decline in imports. The services account surplus also grew, reaching DKK 7.1 billion compared with DKK 3.3 billion in the previous month, while the deficit on secondary income narrowed to DKK 3.0 billion from DKK 3.6 billion. By contrast, the primary income surplus slipped to DKK 6.8 billion from DKK 7.3 billion. Over the January–July period, the current account surplus totaled DKK 208.5 billion, edging up from DKK 208.4 billion in the same period a year earlier.
