FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Bounces Back

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which measures rates for ships transporting dry bulk commodities, edged up 0.3% to 3,584 points on Tuesday, partially reversing a 1.4% decline in the previous session.

The capesize index, covering vessels that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, rose 0.4% to 6,313 points, while the supramax index gained 0.7% to 1,693 points.

In contrast, the panamax index, which tracks ships that usually haul 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell for a third consecutive session, slipping 0.7% to 2,414 points.
