FX.co ★ Indonesia Car Sales Rise 32.4% in August

New car sales in Indonesia surged 32.4% year-on-year to 81,756 units in August 2026, the highest level in five months. This followed a 33.3% jump in July and marked the fifth consecutive month of growth, according to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). GAIKINDO previously set a target of 850,000 domestic new car sales for 2026, implying a 5.8% increase from the 2025 total of 803,687 units. On a month-on-month basis, car sales in August rose 0.8%. Meanwhile, retail new car sales climbed 25.6% year-on-year to 83,422 units in July.
