Brazil’s Consumer Sentiment Slips in September as PCSI Edges Down

Brazilian consumer confidence softened in September 2026, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) data.

The index eased to 52.17 in September from 53.38 in August 2026, signaling a modest deterioration in overall consumer sentiment while still remaining above the neutral 50-point threshold. The figures, updated on 09 September 2026, suggest that Brazilian households have become slightly more cautious about their economic prospects compared with the previous month.

Despite the decline, the PCSI level indicates that optimism continues to outweigh pessimism among Brazilian consumers, though the downward movement will be closely watched by markets for signs of emerging pressure on domestic demand in the months ahead.
