Sweden’s Industrial Output Returns to Growth in July After June Slump

Sweden’s industrial production edged back into positive territory in July 2026, marking a tentative turnaround after a sharp contraction in the previous month. Year-over-year output rose 0.2% in July, according to data updated on 10 September 2026, following a 1.5% decline in June 2026 on the same comparison basis.

The figures show that while the recovery is modest, the direction of travel has shifted after June’s negative reading, which had underscored persistent weakness in Swedish industry. The year-over-year comparison means July’s 0.2% gain measures output against July 2025 levels, whereas June’s -1.5% reflected the change versus June 2025.

Although the rebound is slight, the move from contraction to growth suggests that some of the pressure on Sweden’s industrial sector may be easing as of mid‑summer 2026. Further monthly data will be needed to determine whether July marks the beginning of a sustained recovery or a temporary stabilisation.
