Peru Trade Surplus Widens in July

Peru’s trade surplus widened to USD 3,309 million in July 2026, up from USD 2,432 million in the same month a year earlier. Exports jumped 33.4% year-on-year to USD 10,068 million, supported by strong growth in traditional products (up 43.6%) and non-traditional products (up 4.5%), while exports of other products declined 3.4%.

On the import side, total purchases from abroad increased 32.2% to USD 6,759 million. This rise was driven by higher imports of consumer goods (up 37.1%), inputs and supplies (up 29.0%), and capital goods (up 43.5%), whereas imports of other goods plunged 95.9%.

Over the first seven months of the year, Peru posted a trade surplus of USD 26,064 million, a sharp increase from USD 15,738 million in the same period of the previous year. Exports reached USD 66,506 million, 36.9% higher than a year earlier, while imports totaled USD 40,441 million, up 23.2% year-on-year.
