Dutch Trade Surplus Widens in July

The Netherlands’ trade surplus widened to EUR 10.9 billion in July 2026, up from EUR 9.0 billion in July 2025. Exports increased by 13.6% year-on-year to EUR 75.2 billion, supported by stronger shipments to both EU countries (+9.2%) and non-EU markets (+12.5%).

By product group, export growth was led by animal and vegetable oils and fats (+33.3%), machinery and equipment (+26.3%), mineral fuels and lubricants (+20.2%), and chemical products (+15.9%).

Imports rose 8.9% to EUR 62.2 billion, reflecting higher purchases from both EU partners (+7.5%) and non-EU countries (+10.2%). The main contributors to import growth were machinery and equipment (+19.5%), animal and vegetable oils and fats (+19.4%), mineral fuels and lubricants (+12.7%), and beverages and tobacco (+12.7%).

Over the January–July 2026 period, the Dutch trade surplus reached EUR 67.0 billion, with exports up 5.6% and imports increasing 4.8% compared with the same period a year earlier.
