Gasoline Eases From 7-Week High

US gasoline futures fell to about $3.31 per gallon after hitting a seven-week high, following President Trump’s announcement that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to refrain from attacking energy infrastructure. President Zelenskyy later confirmed Kyiv’s willingness to pause strikes, conditional on Russia halting attacks on Ukraine’s electrical grid and other energy facilities.

At the same time, talks among Gulf states over establishing a temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz were postponed, while Saudi Arabia’s closure of its East–West pipeline further heightened concerns about crude supply and refinery feedstock amid ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure and continued shipping disruptions.

Meanwhile, prediction markets assign a high probability that the average US gasoline price will exceed $4.60 in 2026, after already reaching $4.32 on September 14, according to AAA.
