Brazil’s Industrial Business Confidence Index declined by 1.4 points in September 2026, reaching 44.9 and remaining below the neutral 50-point mark for the 21st consecutive month, indicating ongoing pessimism in the sector. The Current Conditions Index fell more sharply, dropping 2.5 points to 40.2, largely due to a more negative perception of the overall economic environment. The index measuring confidence in Brazil’s economy decreased by 3.6 points to 33.0, while the indicator for companies’ own conditions slid 1.9 points to 43.8. The Expectations Index also weakened, edging down 0.9 point to 47.2, as expectations for the broader Brazilian economy fell 0.6 point to 39.1. Expectations regarding companies’ own future conditions declined by 1.0 point, settling at 51.3.
