Kyrgyzstan Inflation Rate Rises to Highest Since 2023

Kyrgyzstan’s annual inflation rate climbed to 12% in August 2026, its highest level since March 2023, up from 11.5% in July. Price growth accelerated notably in the transport sector, where inflation jumped to 15.7% from 12.5%, while food inflation edged up to 9.3% from 9.1%.

Additional upward pressure came from faster price increases in several categories: restaurants and hotels (30.1% vs. 29.2%), education (22.4% vs. 22.3%), clothing and footwear (8.3% vs. 8%), health (15.3% vs. 14.8%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (11.2% vs. 11%).

In contrast, inflation eased slightly for housing and utilities (11% vs. 11.2%) and for recreation and culture (13.9% vs. 14.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8% in August, down from a 1.1% increase in July.
