UK PPI Output Accelerates to 0.7% in August, Signalling Rising Producer Price Pressures

Producer price pressures in the United Kingdom picked up in August, with PPI Output rising 0.7% month-over-month, up from a 0.4% increase in July 2026. The latest data, updated on 16 September 2026, indicate a strengthening in factory gate inflation as producers received higher prices for their goods.

On a month-over-month basis, the August reading shows that price growth at the producer level has accelerated compared with the previous month, when July’s 0.4% gain reflected a more moderate increase versus June. The “actual” August figure measures the change from July to August, while the “previous” July figure measures the change from June to July.

The firming in PPI Output may draw attention from analysts and policymakers watching for early signs of inflationary trends moving through the production pipeline, as sustained increases in producer prices can eventually feed into consumer prices and broader cost pressures in the economy.
