Czechia Producer Prices Rise More Than Expected

Producer prices in the Czech Republic rose by 2.0% year-on-year in August 2026, up from a 1.6% increase in July and slightly above market expectations of 1.8%. This was the fifth consecutive month of annual growth after fourteen months of decline.

The overall increase was driven mainly by higher prices for manufactured products, which rose 4.0% (vs 3.2% in July), with notable gains in basic metals (5.6% vs 4.7%) and machinery and equipment (1.7% vs 1.2%). Prices in mining and quarrying also accelerated, rising 2.3% (vs 1.9%).

In contrast, prices in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services were unchanged at 3.9%. Producer price deflation deepened in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, where prices fell 4.8%, compared with a 3.9% decline in July.

On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.4% in August, following a 0.3% rise in the previous month.
