Colombia Consumer Confidence Falls in August

Colombia’s Consumer Confidence Index fell by 5.2 percentage points in August 2026, dropping to 15.5% from its July level. The decline was mainly driven by a 7.7-point decrease in the Consumer Expectations Index, which fell to 22.6%, and a 1.6-point drop in the Economic Conditions Index, which slipped to 4.8%.

Consumer expectations weakened as households’ assessment of their personal economic outlook fell to 36.4%, down from 41.8%. General expectations for the overall economy also deteriorated, declining to 16.7% from 24.8%, while the outlook for the country’s economy dropped to 14.8% from 24.3%.

At the same time, households’ views on current economic conditions worsened, with the corresponding index decreasing to 5.4% from 11.1%. In contrast, willingness to purchase durable goods improved, rising to 4.2% from 1.7%.

Despite the monthly decline, the Consumer Confidence Index was still 17.9 percentage points higher in August 2026 than in August 2025.
