FX.co ★ Moldova Producer Inflation Eases in August

Producer price inflation in Moldova slowed to 0.2% year-on-year in August 2026, down from an upwardly revised 0.3% in July. Prices in the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector fell further (-12.9% vs. -12.8% in July), driven by a sharper drop in electric power generation (-14.1% vs. -14.0%) and ongoing declines in both electricity production (-21.4%) and steam and air-conditioning supply (-10.7%).

By contrast, prices in the manufacturing sector accelerated, rising 1.2% year-on-year after a 0.9% increase in the previous month. Notable gains were recorded in beverages (4.2% vs. 2.3%), textiles (1.1% vs. 0.8%), and paper and paper products (2.7% vs. 1.8%). Costs also rose in mining and quarrying, with prices up 8.1% compared with 7.7% in July.

On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 0.1% in August, rebounding from a 0.2% decline in the prior month.
