Corn Bullish Bets Edge Lower as CFTC Speculative Net Longs Slip Slightly

Speculative positioning in U.S. corn futures and options eased marginally in the latest reporting period, according to data updated on 18 September 2026. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) reported that net speculative positions in corn stood at 542.4K contracts, down slightly from the previous reading of 543.0K.

The modest decline suggests that bullish sentiment among speculators remains largely intact, with only a minor reduction in net long exposure. While the change is small, traders may interpret the near-steady positioning as a sign of cautious consolidation rather than a decisive shift in outlook for the U.S. corn market.
