Turkey’s consumer confidence index rose to 91.9 in September 2026, up from 90.8 in August, reaching its highest level since July 2018. The improvement was driven mainly by stronger expectations for households’ financial situation over the next 12 months, which increased to 93.7 from 93.1, and by greater confidence in the general economic outlook, with that sub-index edging up to 89.8 from 89.4. Consumers also reported a higher propensity to make major purchases: the index measuring intentions to buy durable goods advanced to 108.8 from 105.1. However, views on current household finances softened slightly, with that component dipping to 75.3 from 75.4. Despite the overall improvement, the headline index remained below the neutral threshold of 100, indicating that consumers still hold a generally pessimistic assessment of economic conditions.
