FX.co ★ Swedish Producer Inflation Accelerates in August

Producer prices in Sweden rose 6.8% year-on-year in August 2026, up from 6.4% in July and marking a sixth consecutive month of increases. The rise was largely driven by higher energy prices, which climbed 25.2%, compared with 26.0% in July.

Prices for capital goods increased at the same pace as in the previous month (1.6%), while the decline in consumer goods prices moderated slightly to 1.6% from 1.7%. Excluding energy-related products, producer prices were up 3.9% year-on-year, an acceleration from a 3.5% increase in July.

On a monthly basis, producer prices advanced 0.9% in August after a 0.1% rise in July, the strongest monthly gain in four months. “Higher prices for refined petroleum products, as well as trade services in electricity, accounted for the largest contributions to the positive monthly change in the producer price index in August,” said Maria Bäckström, price statistician at Statistics Sweden.
