The Philippines’ consumer confidence indicator improved to -29.8 in the third quarter of 2026 from -42.0 in the previous quarter, when sentiment had fallen to its weakest level since the fourth quarter of 2020 at the height of the COVID pandemic. This rebound was largely attributed to expectations of higher earnings, additional income sources, and more stable employment. All three major component indices turned less negative: the overall economic condition index rose to -59.4 from -71.1, the family financial situation index climbed to -20.3 from -36.2, and the family income index strengthened to -9.7 from -18.7. At the same time, the consumer outlook for the next quarter, while still negative, improved significantly to -0.8 from -16.3, and the outlook for the next 12 months advanced further into positive territory, rising to 9.1 from 0.2. Together, these developments point to growing optimism regarding future economic conditions and household finances.
