Argentina Current Account Swings to Surplus in Q2

Argentina recorded a current account surplus of $2.21 billion in the second quarter of 2026, swinging from a $2.45 billion deficit in the same period of 2025. This improvement was mainly supported by a strong goods trade surplus of $9.29 billion and a surplus in secondary income of $1.05 billion. These gains were partly offset by a primary income deficit of $6.03 billion and a services trade deficit of $2.10 billion. The primary income deficit widened by $2.47 billion year over year, largely reflecting changes in investment income. Consequently, Argentina registered net lending of $2.25 billion in the second quarter of 2026.
