FX.co ★ North Macedonia Retail Sales Growth Slows

In August 2026, retail sales in North Macedonia increased by 3.6% year-on-year, easing from a 5.6% rise in July. The slowdown was largely due to weaker activity in the retail trade of automotive fuels, where annual sales growth decelerated to 8.4% from 13.2% in the previous month. Excluding fuel, overall retail sales growth also softened, falling to 2.3% from 3.6%. Sales of non-food products rose 2.3%, a marked decline from the 6.7% increase recorded in July. By contrast, retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco strengthened, growing 1.2% year-on-year after remaining unchanged in July.
