US energy companies injected 64 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas into storage during the week ending September 25, 2026, in line with market expectations. The build exceeded the 56 bcf added in the same week a year earlier but fell short of the five-year average for this time of year, which stands at 80 bcf. Total inventories rose to 3.415 trillion cubic feet, leaving stocks 3.9% below the level recorded a year ago, yet about 2.4% above the five-year average for the period. The latest injection also surpassed the prior week’s build of 53 bcf for the week ending September 18. Looking ahead, preliminary forecasts indicate a further 79 bcf increase in storage for the week ending October 2. That projected build would slightly exceed the 77 bcf added in the corresponding week of 2025, while still coming in below the five-year average injection of 96 bcf.
