Indonesian Shares Poised for Fourth Weekly Loss

Indonesian stocks fell 27 points, or 0.5%, to 5,984 in early trading on Friday, extending their losing streak to a sixth consecutive session and hovering near the lowest level since mid-July. Selling pressure was concentrated in technology, transportation, and infrastructure shares.

Investors remained cautious ahead of key domestic data releases next week, including September foreign exchange reserves, consumer confidence, and August retail sales. With Chinese markets closed for the Golden Week holiday, local sentiment lacked direction from regional peers, although firmer U.S. equity futures helped limit losses after Wall Street finished largely unchanged overnight.

Notable decliners included Solusi Sinergi Digital (-9.3%), Sumber Alfaria Trijaya (-2.3%), and Amman Mineral (-2.1%). The benchmark index is on course for a fourth straight weekly loss, down nearly 4% so far, pressured by a weaker rupiah and mounting inflation concerns after headline inflation in September accelerated to a three-month high, driven by higher food prices linked to El Niño.

Elevated crude oil prices further compounded risks for Indonesia, a net oil importer, by increasing import bills and adding to fiscal pressures.
