Uruguay’s annual inflation rate edged up to 4.68% in September 2026, from 4.55% in August. The strongest price increases were observed in education (7.29%), transport (7.13%), healthcare (6.72%), restaurants and lodging (6.64%), and personal care and social security (5.66%). Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 4.26%.
By contrast, clothing and footwear registered a 6.21% decline, making it the only category to experience deflation. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.54%, bringing cumulative inflation for the year to 4.21%.
