Danish Manufacturing Output Rebounds in August

Denmark’s manufacturing output rose by 0.9% month-on-month in August 2026, rebounding from an upwardly revised eighteen‑month low of a 5.0% decline in July. Production recovered in several key categories, including textiles, clothing, and leather products (up 6.4% vs down 3.8% in July); wood and paper products (up 3.7% vs down 1.6%); petroleum and chemical products (up 7.9% vs down 2.0%); metal and metal products (up 4.4% vs down 12.0%); electronics (up 3.4% vs down 13.6%); and transport equipment (up 39.0% vs down 17.8%).

In addition, output increased in the manufacture of electrical equipment (3.8% vs 2.3% in July) and of rubber, plastic, glass, and concrete products (2.9% vs 0.3%). Declines moderated in food, beverages, and tobacco (‑0.6% vs ‑2.4%) and in pharmaceuticals (‑1.5% vs ‑6.0%). On a non‑seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing production expanded by 6.5% in August, following a downwardly revised 3.4% increase in the previous period.
