Colombia’s annual inflation rate edged up to 6.29% in September 2026 from 6.24% in August, coming in slightly below market expectations of 6.32% but reaching its highest level since July 2024. The rate moved further above the central bank’s 3% target, supported by faster price increases in several key categories: furniture and household maintenance (6.75% vs 6.67% in August), transport (5.27% vs 5.25%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (6.74% vs 6.10%), education (7.49% vs 7.45%), and restaurants and hotels (9.44% vs 9.36%). Housing and utilities inflation remained stable at 5.74%.
In contrast, price pressures eased in information and communication (4.45% vs 5.97%), recreation and culture (4.91% vs 4.98%), miscellaneous goods and services (5.63% vs 6.05%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.05% vs 6.94%), clothing and footwear (3.12% vs 3.26%), and health (7.79% vs 8.30%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.37% in September, slightly below the 0.39% increase recorded in the previous month.
