Indonesia Consumer Morale Eases in September

Indonesia’s consumer confidence index edged down to 118.1 in September 2026, from 118.5 in August, when it reached a three-month high. The decline was driven mainly by weaker assessments of current economic conditions, which fell by 1.9 points to a 12‑month low of 107.5. Perceptions of job availability over the past six months also softened, dropping 3.0 points to 101.1.

At the same time, expectations for business activity decreased by 0.6 points to 121.5. In contrast, sentiment toward purchases of durable goods improved slightly, rising 0.6 points to 106.7.

Forward-looking views on income were more optimistic: expectations for income over the next six months climbed 2.0 points to 136.9. Similarly, expectations regarding job availability over the same period increased by 2.0 points to 127.7.
