US energy companies injected 85 billion cubic feet of natural gas into storage in the week ending October 2, 2026, the largest weekly build since late June, following a period of weaker restocking through the spring and summer. The addition exceeded the preliminary estimate of 79 bcf. Total inventories rose to 3.500 trillion cubic feet, 3.6% below the level recorded in the same week a year earlier, as expanded export capacity and reduced global supply from the Middle East encouraged producers to channel more LNG to overseas markets.
