The Swedish economy grew by 1.1% month-on-month in August 2026, rebounding from a marginally revised 0.7% contraction in July and marking the strongest monthly expansion since March. “Swedish GDP grew in August following the weak development in July. The growth was relatively broad-based and mainly driven by increased household consumption as well as rising production among goods-producing industries,” said Melker Pettersson Loberg, economist at Statistics Sweden. On an annual basis, GDP rose by 3.5% in August, up from an upwardly revised 2.7% increase in the previous month.
