Azerbaijan’s economy expanded by 1.5% year-on-year in January–September 2026, up from 1.2% growth in the first eight months of the year. The non-oil and gas sector remained the main driver of growth, accelerating to 2.6% from 2.1% in January–August, while the contraction in the oil and gas sector deepened to -1.2% from -0.8%.
Activity strengthened in several service industries: growth in transportation and warehousing services increased to 10.0% from 8.7%, and in information and communication services to 11.1% from 10.7%. By contrast, growth slowed in agriculture, with output rising 1.1% compared with 2.6% previously, and in retail trade turnover, which eased slightly to 3.8% from 3.9%. Industrial output continued to decline, with the contraction widening to -0.8% from -0.4%.
Investment in fixed capital rose by 10.9%, up from 10.0% in the preceding period, supported by stronger growth in the non-oil and gas sector, where investment increased by 3.1% compared with 1.4% earlier.
