UK Stocks Recover

The UK's FTSE 100 rose 0.9% on Friday, snapping a two-day losing streak, as gains in software and mining shares offset weakness elsewhere. Softer oil prices and a degree of stabilization in bond yields helped reassure investors. Geopolitical concerns eased after Trump said the US would not attack Iran before next month's midterm elections and described talks with Tehran as "productive."

Among individual movers, Sage Group and RELX led the advance, climbing 4% and 3.2%, respectively. Mining stocks also posted strong gains, with Antofagasta and Fresnillo each rising more than 3%, supported by firm copper, silver, and gold prices.

Tesco added 2.8% after Deutsche Bank and Jefferies responded positively to its interim results, released the previous day, which showed a 6.5% increase in profits and an improved full-year outlook.

On the downside, Vodafone Group and Airtel Africa were the weakest performers, falling 3.8% and 3.4%, respectively, in line with a broader decline across the European telecom sector. For the week, the FTSE 100 was on track to gain about 0.7%.
