Week Ahead - Oct 12th

Markets will remain focused on developments in negotiations and the risk of further escalatory strikes involving Iran, the US, and Gulf nations, as elevated energy-driven inflation continues to keep global bond yields near multi‑decade highs. Equity performance will be heavily influenced by the latest round of corporate earnings, with key releases due from TSMC, ASML, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Johnson & Johnson, LVMH, and UnitedHealth.

On the data front, the US calendar is led by CPI and PPI, alongside domestic retail sales, industrial production, and terms-of-trade figures. In the euro area, markets will be watching upcoming industrial production and trade data. China’s trade balance will be in focus amid persistent protectionist measures by major trading partners, while new monetary aggregate data will help gauge the availability of credit across both traditional and emerging sectors of the economy. Japan is scheduled to publish PPI and machinery orders, and labor market reports from India and Australia will also be closely watched.
