Speculative investors scaled back their bullish bets on gold in the latest reporting week, according to updated data on CFTC Gold speculative net positions released in the United States.

Net long positions slipped to 210.3K contracts, down from 218.6K previously. The figures, updated on 09 October 2026, indicate a modest cooling in speculative enthusiasm toward the precious metal.

While positioning remains firmly in net-long territory, the reduction suggests some traders may be locking in profits or adopting a more cautious stance amid shifting market conditions and uncertainty over the near-term trajectory of interest rates and the U.S. dollar.
