Slovakia Inflation Remains Lowest Since 2024

Slovakia's annual inflation rate held at 3.1% in September 2026, unchanged from August and slightly below market expectations of 3.2%. This marked the lowest rate since December 2024, driven largely by a steeper decline in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.2% vs -2.5%).

Price growth also slowed in several categories, including alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (2.0% vs 2.6%), health (4.4% vs 4.8%), recreation, sport and culture (4.2% vs 4.7%), education (4.4% vs 5.9%), restaurants and hotels (4.4% vs 4.7%), and insurance and financial services (2.3% vs 4.5%).

By contrast, inflation accelerated in transport (9.1% vs 6.5%), housing and utilities (7.8% vs 7.4%), furnishings and household maintenance (1.4% vs 1.3%), and information and communication (2.8% vs 2.3%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2% in September, in line with forecasts, following a flat reading in August. Core inflation, excluding regulated prices, remained at 1.5%, its lowest level since February 2021.
