Indonesia FDI Rises the Most in Nearly 2 Years

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia, excluding the financial as well as the oil and gas sectors, jumped 27.5% year-on-year to a record IDR 270.2 trillion (US$14.99 billion) in Q3 2026. This followed a 27.4% increase in Q2 and marked the strongest pace of growth since Q4 2024, despite ongoing global economic uncertainty linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

The base metals industry drew the largest share of foreign inflows. By country and territory of origin, Hong Kong was the leading investor, with US$5.2 billion, followed by Singapore (US$5.1 billion), the United States (US$1.7 billion), China (US$1.1 billion), and South Korea (US$0.8 billion).

Total direct investment, including both foreign and domestic sources, rose 7.6% year-on-year to IDR 528.7 trillion in Q3 2026, supporting the creation of more than 745,634 jobs. FDI accounted for 51.1% of overall investment during the quarter.
